BREAKDOWN & TRAVEL INSURANCE

On all European tours (including Ireland) we require clients to take-out some form of Personal Travel and Accident/Breakdown cover.  This is essential for repatriation of yourself and your motorcycle in the event of an accident or medical emergency. If you have an existing policy you should check that  your company would repatriate your bike, even if undamaged, should you be unable to ride it.

We also strongly urge you to take out insurance that  includes cancellation cover in the event of an accident, cancellation, illness or redundancy prior to departure. In such instances we recommend HolidaySafe who provide specific motorcycle holiday insurance

DAY 1 - Calais to Bitche

Meet and greet and head off to Bitche in France
  • Meet at McDonalds Eureka Park, Ashford and board the Eurotunnel for 08.50
  • Remember clocks go forward one hour!
  • We head for a small town called Bitche in Nord Vosges for our overnight stay in a wonderful hotel before heading for Switzerland and the Alps!
2

DAY 2 - Switzerland and the Alps!

If you have never been to the Vosges Mountains you’ll be amazed at how incredibly stunning it is and being just under 400 miles from Calais, it makes a very popular destination for bikers from northern Europe.
img_20160520_111239Twists, turns, hairpins and beautiful roads lined with tall pine trees that open up to a stunning landscape view across mountain ranges are just some of the delights you’ll experience today. Afterwards, we head for Switzerland and our first taste of the incredibly dominating landscapes that will follow over the next few days. We finish the day riding through Grimsel Pass and finally arriving in Fiesch for the evening to spend the night in our traditional Swiss hotel with views out across the Alps.
3

DAY 3 - Mountain Pases

Wow, what a day we will be having today.
Sussten Pass, Furka Pass, Nufenen Pass, San Bernadino Pass, Splugen Pass are just a few of the big name mountain passes we’ll be travelling through on our way to Verceia. Beautiful views and a stunning hotel are on offer at the end of our day riding some of the most beautiful landscapes in all of Switzerland. We finish up for the day in the Italian Alps. Set in Verceia on Lake Mezzola. Its pizzeria restaurant La Trela features a wine cellar with over 300 different wines!!

4

DAY 4 - Tirano

Stelvio Pass in Italy is considered by many bikers one of the “must do roads in all of Europe” with its endless hairpin bends (46) and stunning views to be had we have to agree!

Today we make our way through some more mountain passes, Albula Pass (2315m), Bernina Pass

Passo del Bernina (also called Berninapass) is a high mountain pass at an elevation of 2,328 m (7,638 ft) above the sea level, located in the Bernina Range of the Alps, in the canton of Graubünden (Grisons) in eastern Switzerland.

The road over the pass was built in 1865. It connects the resort town of St. Moritz in the Engadin valley with the Italian-speaking Val Poschiavo, which ends in the Italian town of Tirano in Valtellina.  An important attraction on this mountain is the Bernina Express – the highest long-distance railway in the Alps (reaching 2,253m), and it crosses the road on the north side (twice).

We finish the day with a ride over the Stelvio Pass and on to our 3 star hotel just a few kilometres from Bormio at the base of Stelvio Pass.

5

DAY 5 & 6 - Rest Day in Beautiful Verona

Verona is a city in northern Italy’s Veneto region famous for being the setting of Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet.” It’s home to a 14th-century house said to have “Juliet’s balcony,” even though the building’s connection to the play is fictional. Verona is also famed for its grand Arena, a 1st-century Roman amphitheater still hosting concerts and an annual opera festival.

We head west to Gravedona today and ride alongside Lago Di Como and Lago d’lseo as we then venture deep into the countryside of the north Italian Alps, an area unspoilt by tourists and often unexplored by tour guides. We like our customers to see the “real” Alps, away from the commercial riff raff, We also get to see some pretty incredible scenery and ride some of the hidden roads.

6

DAY 7 - Lake Garda & Dolomites

Staying in Italy for the morning we make our way out of Verona and off to Lake Garda, we will stop on the lake for a bit of lunch before heading off again towards South Tyrol as we proceed to the Dolomites, this is an amazing area with spectacular scenery and a must see experience. Plenty of usual winding, twisting roads today as well as some longer straights such as Lake Garda to have a good look around. There will be plenty of photo stops today so cameras at the ready! We rest for the evening in our hotel in the heart of the Dolomites.
7

DAY 8 - Grossglockner Pass

Another treat in store for you today as we head further through the Dolomites and South Tyrol and onto Grossglockner High Alpine Pass, which, is the highest surfaced mountain pass road in Austria. It connects Bruck in the state of Salzburg with Heiligenblut in Carinthia via Fuscher Törland Hochtor Pass at 2,504 m (8,215 ft). The road is named after the Grossglockner, Austria’s highest mountain. Built as a scenic route, a toll is assessed for passage.
7

DAY 9 - Germany / B500

Probably the longest day in riding hours today but the scenery is beautiful
We head North West towards Germany and pick up a short section of the famous B500 route as we head then north towards our destination in Baden-Baden sandwiched between Stuttgart and Strasbourg for the evening in the heart of the Black Forest.
We spend the evening relaxing in a traditional German hotel
7

DAY 10 & 11 - Heading home

Our last 2 days we head for Luxembourg then onto the Ardennes National Park in Belgium before heading for Calais tomorrow. Our route on day 10 is motorway free so we get so some of the more traditional living and lifestyles of the Europeans away from the tourist attractions. Old stone houses with rickety wooden shutters along with some old cars from the past and traditional horse drawn carts are a delight to see as we make our way through the small towns and villages.

Our last evening is spent near the town of Rochefort. The Quartier Latin is in the peaceful town of Marche-en-Famenne, 25 minutes’ drive from Durbuy. It offers wellness facilities with an indoor pool, an elegant gourmet restaurant and historic features such as an 18th-century Jesuit church. Some of the many facilities in the wellness area include a hammam, sauna and Turkish bath. You can enjoy a range of relaxing treatments including body scrubs, facials and massages. The following morning we head for Calais to return to the UK making it the end of an awesome journey as we bid fair well to our newly found friends and biker companions.

Two riders rode past the scenic photo stop as they weren’t sure it was their group that had stopped, so I had to go after them (concerned they would get too far ahead before another turning). I finally caught up with them and all was well. The latter part of this video shows some rear bike camera footage of the Dolomites with a customer on my tail.

Stunning scenery and some fantastic rear mounted camera footage. Enjoy!

DATES 2018

The following dates are available. Please use the booking form on the right and choose the relevant date which will be highlighted in bold – please ensure you have the correct date at the checkout section as the only way we can amend it is for you to rebook and we refund for the booking with the wrong date.

  • TOUR A: 16th – 26th June 2018
The weather is lovely this time of year, still cool in the mountains and not uncomfortably hot on the lower ground. Still some snow on the peaks of the mountains make this popular for some cracking photos of the Alps!
  • TOUR B: 1st – 10th September 2018
September is a mild time to travel through the Alps. The weather is still warm and the mountain passes are less cold. Just outside of the summer season, the roads are less cluttered and free to blow away the cobwebs!

Both tours are identical, the only difference being the dates

Brilliant 11 days touring the Alps with guided motorbike tours Always been worried about booking a tour group as I thought it would be too regimented (like a coach trip on 2 wheels), but decided to take the plunge as the wife decided to join me for her first bike trip outside the Uk. I couldn’t have been more wrong and wish we’d done it years ago! We both had a brilliant time, with great company, great hotels and great routes. I can’t begin to cover all the highlights of the week, but Grimsel Pass, Sussten Pass, Furka Pass, Nufenen Pass, San Bernadino Pass, Splugen Pass and Stelvio Pass have been some of the many. Thanks Chris Seagal, you did a blinding job!

Excellent tour/adventure, Chris is a very good guide and understands and caters for all types of riders in the group. No one got lost or left behind and any minor problems were easily resolved.

I had an excellent 11 days touring Europe. Excellent food, very nice hotels. Amazing scenery. I also noticed an improvement in my riding towards the end of the holiday. I will definitely use the company again.

Alpine Motorcycle Tour 2016

26/11/2016

I was the eldest member on this tour (70) wonderful time had by all, if I can do it you can.

11/07/2017

The tour started at the euro tunnel,The first day was a hard ride to the Swiss border and our first overnight stop after that it all seems like a blur wonderfull roads fantastic scenery and passes so many passes, temperatures from very high 20s to two degrees at the top. there were some very long rides between the different countries some of which were on motorways which was unavoidable. The guide was a great guy he kept us up to date with pictures and videos he was one of the group eating and drinking with us laughing and helping all the way.
The hotels were good, beds clean the showers fantastic after a long day riding in 28 degrees the breakfasts were ok if you can call a european breakfasts that ( you can’t beat a cooked breakfast before a long ride) but you could fill up on cereals, bread and scrambled egg ( In what universe is puff pastry a breakfast) you could also make a sandwich or two for the road.
The final ride to the tunnel was not so bad Snips (the guide) made it interesting by stopping at a First World war cemetery and then at Agincourt were the British in retreat gave the French a though thrashing.
Although this was my first guided tour I would highly recommend Guided Motorbike Tours.
But please before you undertake this sort of tour understand the distance involved read the itinerary, I have done some long distances riding and I felt a bit sore in the saddle area on the ride home from the tunnel to Teesside.
And finally I will use them again possibly the Black Forrest.
