The Alps motorcycle tour covers some of the most incredible roads in all of Europe. This is a seriously scenic tour with the best views you will find. Our tour takes us into the heart of the Swiss, Italian and Austrian Alps on a journey that is breathtaking from the moment you leave the hotel to the minute you grab hold of that well earned drink at the end of a spectacular day!

guided motorbike toursThis tour should not be compared with any other similarly advertised, it has it’s own style, a huge emphasis on fun and excitement that will leave you smiling from ear to ear every day. If you are after a coach tour on two wheels, then this isn’t the tour for you. We stay as far away as possible from coach tour style hotels that offer deals for tour groups , which, include set menu meals with tiny portions of overcooked food, suitable only for the likes of old folks in nursing homes (no offence). We mostly use hotels that reflect the location you are staying in. Hotels that have stunning views, some with spas and pools and have tons of character along with decent hearty meals that are reasonably priced, so you’re not left feeling hungry before bed.
We don’t provide cheap budget coach tours on two wheels to our clients! We believe you should have decent hotels and food at the end of a fun day riding
This tour could possibly be every riders dream. With over 30 mountain passes you will see some of the most incredible landscapes in all of Europe, from the Stelvio Pass in northern Italy near the town of Bormio to famous biker passes such as Furka Pass, Grossglockner Pass, Nufenen pass, the Dolomites and more. With over 30 Alpine passes, some of which reach altitudes of up to 3000 meters with views to die for and roads that captivate all your senses, our Alpine Motorcycle Tour is probably one of the most scenic and spectacular of all.

On all European tours (including Ireland) we require clients to take-out some form of Personal Travel and Accident/Breakdown cover.  This is essential for repatriation of yourself and your motorcycle in the event of an accident or medical emergency. If you have an existing policy you should check that  your company would repatriate your bike, even if undamaged, should you be unable to ride it.

We also strongly urge you to take out insurance that  includes cancellation cover in the event of an accident, cancellation, illness or redundancy prior to departure. In such instances we recommend HolidaySafe who provide specific motorcycle holiday insurance

DAY 1 - Calais to Pont A Mousson

Meet and greet and head off to France

We will meet at the Eurotunnel in Folkestone for 07.00 sharp. Having received your Eurotunnel booking reference its a simple case of enter the booking number and meeting just outside the rear of the Burger King building by the terminal (full details provided)  We then head through customs together and board the train for around 08.20 arriving in Pont a Mousson for the evening, a pretty little town.

DAY 2 - Grand Ballon - Grimsel Pass!

If you have never been to the Vosges Mountains you’ll be amazed at how incredibly stunning it is and being just under 400 miles from Calais, it makes a very popular destination for bikers from northern Europe.
Twists, turns, hairpins and beautiful roads lined with tall pine trees that open up to a stunning landscape view across mountain ranges are just some of the delights you’ll experience today. Afterwards, we head for Switzerland and our first taste of the incredibly dominating landscapes that will follow over the next few days. We finish the day riding through Grimsel Pass and finally arriving in Fiesch for the evening to spend the night in our traditional Swiss hotel with views out across the Alps.

DAY 3 - Mountain Pases

Wow, what a day we will be having today.
Sussten Pass, another run over Grimsel Pass (in reverse) Furka Pass, Nufenen Pass, San Bernadino Pass, Splugen Pass are just a few of the big name mountain passes we’ll be travelling through on our way to Verceia. Beautiful views and a stunning hotel are on offer at the end of our day riding some of the most beautiful landscapes in all of Switzerland. We finish up for the day in the Italian Alps. Set in Verceia on Lake Mezzola. Its pizzeria restaurant La Trela features a wine cellar with over 300 different wines!!

DAY 4 - Tirano

Stelvio Pass in Italy is considered by many bikers one of the “must do roads in all of Europe” with its endless hairpin bends (46) and stunning views to be had we have to agree!

Today we make our way through some more mountain passes, Albula Pass (2315m), Bernina Pass

Passo del Bernina (also called Berninapass) is a high mountain pass at an elevation of 2,328 m (7,638 ft) above the sea level, located in the Bernina Range of the Alps, in the canton of Graubünden (Grisons) in eastern Switzerland.

The road over the pass was built in 1865. It connects the resort town of St. Moritz in the Engadin valley with the Italian-speaking Val Poschiavo, which ends in the Italian town of Tirano in Valtellina.  An important attraction on this mountain is the Bernina Express – the highest long-distance railway in the Alps (reaching 2,253m), and it crosses the road on the north side (twice).

We finish the day with a ride over the Stelvio Pass and on to our 3 star hotel just a few kilometres from Bormio at the base of Stelvio Pass.

DAY 5 & 6 - Rest Day in Beautiful Lake Garda

Lake Garda, in northern Italy, is known for its crystal clear water. At the south end, the town of Sirmione is dominated by the Rocca Scaligera, a fortress with harbor views. The nearby Grotte di Catullo archaeological site includes a Roman villa. On the lake’s western shore, in Gardone Riviera, is Il Vittoriale degli Italiani, former home of poet d’Annunzio. The Dolomites frame Riva del Garda, a resort in the north.

There are an abundance of beautiful and stunning roads to be ridden among the hillsides of the lakes if you wish to take a ride out or take a ferry ride across the lake, do some shopping or sit on the shore relaxing and have a paddle. There is plenty to do and the scenery is outstanding. Tremazol Pass is another great option if you prefer to ride your bike.

DAY 7 - Tremosine & Dolomites

Staying in Italy for the morning we make our way out of Lake Garda towards Tremosine, before heading off again towards South Tyrol as we proceed to the Dolomites, this is an amazing area with spectacular scenery and a must see experience. Plenty of usual winding, twisting roads today as well as some longer straights such as Lake Garda to have a good look around. There will be plenty of photo stops today so cameras at the ready! We rest for the evening in our hotel in the heart of the Dolomites.

DAY 8 - Grossglockner Pass

Another treat in store for you today as we head further through the Dolomites and South Tyrol and onto Grossglockner High Alpine Pass, which, is the highest surfaced mountain pass road in Austria. It connects Bruck in the state of Salzburg with Heiligenblut in Carinthia via Fuscher Törland Hochtor Pass at 2,504 m (8,215 ft). The road is named after the Grossglockner, Austria’s highest mountain. Built as a scenic route, a toll is assessed for passage.

DAY 9 - Germany / B500

Probably the longest day in riding hours today but the scenery is beautiful
We head North West towards Germany and pick up a short section of the famous B500 route as we head then north towards our destination in Baden-Baden sandwiched between Stuttgart and Strasbourg for the evening in the heart of the Black Forest.
We spend the evening relaxing in a traditional German hotel

DAY 10 & 11 - Germany - France

Our last 2 days we head for Luxembourg then onto the Ardennes National Park in Belgium before heading for Calais tomorrow. Our route on day 10 is motorway free so we get so some of the more traditional living and lifestyles of the Europeans away from the tourist attractions. Old stone houses with rickety wooden shutters along with some old cars from the past and traditional horse drawn carts are a delight to see as we make our way through the small towns and villages.

Our last evening is spent near the town of Rochefort. The Quartier Latin is in the peaceful town of Marche-en-Famenne, 25 minutes’ drive from Durbuy. It offers wellness facilities with an indoor pool, an elegant gourmet restaurant and historic features such as an 18th-century Jesuit church. Some of the many facilities in the wellness area include a hammam, sauna and Turkish bath. You can enjoy a range of relaxing treatments including body scrubs, facials and massages. The following morning we head for Calais to return to the UK making it the end of an awesome journey as we bid fair well to our newly found friends and biker companions.

Itinerary may change due to improvements based on feedback and hotel locations as well as other eventualities beyond our control

  2. Rider & Pillion sharing a double or twin room – Only £2495
  3. Rider with single room – Only £1995

Is this suitable for inexperienced riders?

No, you will need to be an experienced rider due to many of the roads having lots of hairpins and switchbacks which will can prove challenging for new or inexperienced riders

Will my Harley Davidson, Victory, Indian or similar cruiser style motorcycle be suitable?

Whilst we have had many similar bikes on these tours, it is down to the riders ability more so than the bike. If you are an experienced rider and competent on the bike then you should be fine, however, please bear in mind some sections (such as Stelvio Pass with over 48 hairpins) can be challenging for cruiser riders, especially in the wet

What will the weather be like?

How long is a piece of string! Usually it is mild, sunny with the odd overcast. As it is the Alps you can expect some rain due to the mountains. It can also get chilly higher up we go

Will I need a new set of tyres?

Not necessarily but you must have a set of tyres with tread capable of doing 3,000 miles before you leave, it is also advised to ensure your bike is in fully serviceable condition

Brilliant 11 days touring the Alps with guided motorbike tours Always been worried about booking a tour group as I thought it would be too regimented (like a coach trip on 2 wheels), but decided to take the plunge as the wife decided to join me for her first bike trip outside the Uk. I couldn’t have been more wrong and wish we’d done it years ago! We both had a brilliant time, with great company, great hotels and great routes. I can’t begin to cover all the highlights of the week, but Grimsel Pass, Sussten Pass, Furka Pass, Nufenen Pass, San Bernadino Pass, Splugen Pass and Stelvio Pass have been some of the many. Thanks Chris Seagal, you did a blinding job!

Excellent tour/adventure, Chris is a very good guide and understands and caters for all types of riders in the group. No one got lost or left behind and any minor problems were easily resolved.

Alpine Motorcycle Tour 2016

I had an excellent 11 days touring Europe. Excellent food, very nice hotels. Amazing scenery. I also noticed an improvement in my riding towards the end of the holiday. I will definitely use the company again.

Alpine Motorcycle Tour 2016

I was the eldest member on this tour (70) wonderful time had by all, if I can do it you can.

The tour started at the euro tunnel,The first day was a hard ride to the Swiss border and our first overnight stop after that it all seems like a blur wonderfull roads fantastic scenery and passes so many passes, temperatures from very high 20s to two degrees at the top. there were some very long rides between the different countries some of which were on motorways which was unavoidable. The guide was a great guy he kept us up to date with pictures and videos he was one of the group eating and drinking with us laughing and helping all the way.
The hotels were good, beds clean the showers fantastic after a long day riding in 28 degrees the breakfasts were ok if you can call a european breakfasts that ( you can’t beat a cooked breakfast before a long ride) but you could fill up on cereals, bread and scrambled egg ( In what universe is puff pastry a breakfast) you could also make a sandwich or two for the road.
The final ride to the tunnel was not so bad Snips (the guide) made it interesting by stopping at a First World war cemetery and then at Agincourt were the British in retreat gave the French a though thrashing.
Although this was my first guided tour I would highly recommend Guided Motorbike Tours.
But please before you undertake this sort of tour understand the distance involved read the itinerary, I have done some long distances riding and I felt a bit sore in the saddle area on the ride home from the tunnel to Teesside.
And finally I will use them again possibly the Black Forrest.

First class tour, snips is on his game and always helpful, fantastic roads and a good standard of hotels, can’t wait to go again and have recommended to all riders i know… well done

What a tour! Super scenery and amazing roads. And expertly guided by Snips. Top bloke. Will definitely be booking again with Guided Motorbike Tours. Highly recommended.

Being a return customer says it all about this company, having just completed the alps tour with them, once again they have delivered above and beyond my expectations, roads made for riding and beautiful scenery and ending up in very good accommodations, highly recommended, tom

What a brilliant experience; the scenery was beautiful and the routes were first class. Snips was a great guide and made sure that everyone was looked after. The days were long, on average 10 hours, and you had to be prepared to ride hard at times to catch up if you were near the back, but it was all worth it to travel through such iconic passes. I’ll definitely be booking again next year. Just can’t make up my mind whether to do the same tour or one of the others; I expect they’re equally excellent

What a credit to the industry these guys are. Chris & Snips are genuine caring people who will go out their way to help you with almost anything. No one is left out and everyone is made to feel equal. Like many, I was very apprehensive about the tour but after the first day when laughter and banter was flowing, I was put at ease. This is a great company that focuses as much on making you laugh and ensuring you are enjoying the experience, as they do making sure the routes are the best and the hotels are comfortable and relaxing (No group hotels which was nice not to have to fight among the oldies!)

Highly recommended, you may not pay the cheapest price but you certainly get what you pay for!

Just a fantastic experience from beginning to end. Challenging rides with the stunningly beautiful backdrop of the alpine scenery. Had the pleasure of great company and our guide, Snips, managed the group very well and kept pulses racing with a good pace and excitement at every turn. This is clearly a company that’s passionate about making sure their customers have a great time biking and I would thoroughly recommend.
