1

DAY 1 - CALAIS TO VOSGES

Our first day is a transit day, which means we will head through France for our destination for the evening, which, is a campsite in the Vosges Mountains, which, lines us up nicely for tomorrow’s ride through the Swiss Alps

Approx miles: 370

2

DAY 2 - VOSGES TO STELVIO PASS

Today we enter Switzerland. We will head to one of the most popular alpine passes, the famous Stelvio Pass, with 46 hairpins and an altitude of 2600+ meters its an achievement once you reach the top, then, after purchasing souvenir stickers etc we descend down the southern side of the mountain, which is far less demanding and incredibly beautiful where we head for Bormio for the evening and stay at our campsite.

Approx miles: 262

3

DAY 3 - BORMIO TO LAKE GARDA & PISA

We head through the Italian Alps into Lake Garda, stopping for lunch and snapping some photos we then head south to Pisa and stay in a campsite just 500 yards from the leaning tower of Pisa. There is a quicker option that by-passes Lake Garda if you prefer a more direct route to Pisa with less miles.

Approx miles: 336

4

DAY 4 - PISA TO ROME

A more leisurely ride through the Italian countryside today. Leaving early we make a morning visit to the leaning tower of Pisa and then head south close to the coast for our destination this evening, which, is the stunning city and capital of Italy, Rome. We stay in a lovely fully featured campsite just on the outskirts of Rome (10km from the centre) with plenty of opportunity to enter the city on your bike once you have pitched your tent in the afternoon to go and explore in your own time. It is a very busy and hectic city so pre-planning if you intend to visit any particular sights within the city is advised.

Approx miles: 220

5

DAY 5 - ROME TO SORRENTO ALMALFI COAST

There are two options today. The first is to ride straight to Sorrento, which, is on the west peninsula of Italy , a beautiful town and so typical of Italian lifestyle. We stay the evening in a wonderful campsite overlooking the Gulf of Naples. The second option is to stop off on route to Pompeii.

Pompeii is a vast archaeological site located in southern Italy’s Campania region. Once a thriving and sophisticated Roman city, Pompeii was buried in meters of ash and pumice after the catastrophic eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 A.D. Near the coast of the Bay of Naples, the well-preserved site features excavated ruins that visitors can freely explore.

Those choosing the Pompeii option: Whilst visiting the site, the guide will escort the other members of the group (if any decide not to visit Pompeii) to the campsite just a few kilometers down the road and will then return to wait for those visiting the site to come and out and take them to the campsite.

Our campsite is just 15 minutes walk from the main town of Sorrento.

Approx miles: 182

6

DAY 6 - REST DAY - SORRENTO

Sorrento is a coastal town in southwestern Italy, facing the Bay of Naples on the Sorrentine Peninsula. Perched atop cliffs that separate the town from its busy marinas, it’s known for sweeping water views and Piazza Tasso, a cafe-lined square. The historic center is a warren of narrow alleys that’s home to the Chiesa di San Francesco, a 14th-century church with a tranquil cloister. Sorrento also marks the beginning of the famous road, the Amalfi Coast Road, which, we will be riding tomorrow! There is plenty to see and do in Sorrento, catch the ferry to Capri, sample some Limoncello, or sit and relax in the main square and watch the world go by. For more info on Sorrento, click here.

Approx miles: 0

7

DAY 7 - ITALY TO GREECE

We leave a bit earlier today as we head along the famous Amalfi Coast Road, which, is absolutely stunning. The popular Amalfi Coast route (SS 163 Amalfitana) follows the shoreline from Sorrento south to Salerno, in Italy. It’s one of the best coastal drives in the world. Picturesque Amalfi has been featured in films for as long as cameras have rolled at 24 frames per second.

We then head straight for Matera (time pending). Matera is a city and a province in the region of Basilicata, in Southern Italy. It is the capital of the province of Matera and the capital of Basilicata from 1663 to 1806. The town lies in a small canyon carved out by the Gravina and features many cave buildings.

All being well, we leave Matera and head for our ferry to Greece in Brindisi on the east coast of Italy for our 21.00 departure. (we have to arrive 1.5 hours before departure). You will share a 4 berth cabin on board and breakfast is included the following morning. We will dock in Patras in the Southwestern corner of Greece at around 14.00 the following day (Sunday) and make our way directly to Athens where we will stay in a hotel for the evening, which, includes breakfast.

Approx miles: 244

8

DAY 8 - PATRAS TO ATHENS

We disembark the ferry in Patras, Greece at 14.00 and head for Athens, where we will be staying in a hotel for two nights to explore the capital of Greece, breakfast is included.

Approx miles: 131

9

DAY 9 - REST DAY IN ATHENS

Day off in Athens to explore or relax!

Approx miles: 0

10

DAY 10 - NORTHERN GREECE

We head along the coastal roads today as we head north towards Albania, following the road above Tripoli and along the west coast of Greece we arrive at our destination in a place called Igoumenitsa in the north west corner of Greece and stay in a beautiful campsite with a small private beach and views out towards Corfu. The roads today are fun and thrilling, with little traffic and some superb views. All riders will have the chance to ride their own pace as the roads are relatively direct with lots of twists, turns and long sweeping straights.

Approx miles: 318 miles

11

DAY 11 - ALBANIA

We head over the border today into Albania. We will all need to obtain a “Green Card” at the border but your guide is on hand to help you. It is not complicated, nor should it be an exhaustive procedure. Green cards are 15 Euro approx and cover you for 3rd party insurance. It is mandatory even if your own insurance have provided you with cover! Be patient and polite and we will get through the border in under 90mins. From here we head for the northwest corner of Albania and stay on a beautiful campsite in an enclosed compound with great food, good showers and plenty of beer!

The roads in Albania can be challenging at times. The drivers have little concept of safety or for other motorists for that matter so a morning briefing will be given before we set off.

Approx miles: 295

12

DAY 12 - MONTENEGRO, BOSNIA/HERZEGOVINA & CROATIA

It’s a long day today as we head through several countries and border controls. Crossing from Albania into the beautiful country of Montenegro (10 Euros) and then into Bosnia and Herzegovina for a brief while to see some remnants of the war, lastly we enter into Croatia and head along the D8, a coastal road that is fit for bikers, fast paced sweeping turns and sharp bends for approx 70km along the rugged coastline of Croatia, it’s beautiful and loads of fun! We stop for the evening in Spit where we stay in a hotel as we may arrive later than usual depending on how long it takes to negotiate our way through the border crossings! “It’s an adventure!”

Approx miles: 297

13

DAY 13 - SPLIT TO SLOVENIA

We have a bit of a transit day today for our special treat tomorrow. We will make our way along the E roads of Slovenia and Croatia to arrive at Lake Bled, a very picturesque town in Slovenia at the base of the Julian Alps. Our campsite for the evening is just next to the lake and not far from Bled Castle.

Approx miles: 327

14

DAY 14 - JULIAN ALPS (SLOVENIA)

The Julian Alps are a mountain range of the Southern Limestone Alps that stretch from northeastern Italy to Slovenia, where they rise to 2,864 m at Mount Triglav, the highest peak in Slovenia and of the former Yugoslavia. This is a very picturesque location with many hairpin bends!

From here we head for Grossglockner Pass in Austria (25 Euros toll) and make our way over the Grossglockner mountain range to our destination near Innsbruck. It is a long and can be a tiring day but you will have some awesome memories, which, should help ease the aches and pains!

Approx miles: 288

15

DAY 15 - INNSBRUCK TO NORD VOSGE (FRANCE)

Our last couple of days of the tour are mostly transit days to get back to Calais. We make our way out of Austria and into Germany where we cross then into France and stay the night in a hotel in Bitche, in the Nord Vosges Mountain Park Region.

Approx miles: 302

16

DAY 16 - HOMEWARDBOUND

We head for Calais, via Germany, Luxembourg, Belgium and then back into France to avoid the toll roads. It’s a slightly longer route but saves considerable time and cost at the toll gates. We aim to arrive at Calais for mid to late afternoon to catch our train back into the UK to arrive at approx 17.00 GMT

Approx miles: 350

AN ADVENTURE TOUR THROUGH AND THROUGH

This tour is an adventure tour, as such it will involve, at times, some challenging moments that may take you away from your comfort zone. That’s the beauty of this tour, is that you will have a professional tour guide on hand 24/7 leading and guiding you through the whole route. Everything is organised from the Eurotunnel crossing to the overnight crossing from Italy to Greece and even the hotels and campsites are pre-arranged

The campsites are of high standard as are the hotels we will be staying in to give you a good opportunity to sort your kit out and relax in comfort.

Suitable bikes for this tour are 600cc and higher that can carry your tent, clothes and so on. It is not necessary to bring food as this is obtainable at each campsite but we do recommend you bring a small stove and at least one ready meal so you can make a drink and in case the bar is closed etc.

Your bike must be in full working condition and a full service is recommended if it is nearly due or you haven’t ridden the bike for a while. We will be riding around 4500 – 5000 miles on this tour

You will also need a fair bit of stamina, whilst the days aren’t that gruelling the ever changing temperatures and longer days than usual in the saddle can be demanding for some

We will be riding through – France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, Greece, Albania, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Croatia, Slovenia, Liechtenstein and Montenegro on this epic tour

You will have chance to see – Lake Garda, Stelvio Pass, Vosges Mountains, Leaning Tower of Pisa, Rome, Almalfi Coast Road, Matera, Athens, Julian Pass in Slovenia, Grossglockner Pass in Austria and many many more fantastic landmarks and locations

DO I NEED AN INTERNATIONAL DRIVERS PERMIT FOR THIS TOUR?

No, you won’t. As we are still in the EU you will not be required to have an International Driver’s Permit. Many, for the sake of £5.50 and trip to the Post Office, opt to purchase one just as a precautionary measure in case a police officer questions it or requests it. This is usually due to a lack of understand on the law from the officer’s part!

WILL I NEED A EHIC CARD?

An EHIC is a European Health Insurance Card available here. You will need one in order to obtain medical treatment when travelling in the EU

WILL I NEED TRAVEL INSURANCE?

Yes, you will without doubt need medical insurance and we strongly recommend you consider HolidaySafe.co.uk. We have used this company for years and they provide excellent cover for you and your bike

I did this trip in 2015.
It was my first big trip and if im honest i was nervous especially not knowing anybody.
That soon changed on the very first day.
The trip was planned perfectly and i was really made to feel relaxed.
There so much to see on this trip and if you love to camp and enjoy ridding its definitely a must. The feeling you get sat at the campsite what will turn out to be your mates is fantastic.
Ive done 5 trips with guided motorbike tours and to be honest i trust them.
There approach to customer satisfaction is unmatched.
Thats why im booking for the 2017.
Hope to see you
