NC500 SCOTTISH HIGHLANDS
Fully Escorted Scotland Motorcycle Tour of the NC500 and Highlands

The Scottish Highlands contain some of Scotland’s most stunning scenery, including National Parks and vast areas of unspoilt wilderness. From the vibrant city of Inverness and Loch Ness (Home of Nessie the Loch Ness monster!) through the Caledonian Canal to Fort William the adventure capital of the UK, to the tranquil and peaceful Islands, the Inner and Outer Hebrides, and the Isle of Skye, its a place that has something for everyone, especially bikers, because the roads are bloody awesome!

Our tour takes us through the Trossachs National Park, Lake Lomomd and into Cairgnorms National Park, home of Balmoral Castle and many famous distilleries. There will an opportunity to stroll around the one of the queens homes before having a quick tour of the royal distillery (remember we’ll be riding our bikes afterwards!). We then head past Loch Ness, stopping at some hidden attractions and some more well know ones too, such as the abundance of castles along the way. Heading past Inverness onto John O’Groats we get our picture taken at the futhest most northern point on UK mainland and then off to Smoo cave, along the north coast along the NC500 and back down the western side through Applecross and a chance to see Eilean Donan Castle.

We head onto the Isle of Skye, which has and is still being used by many film producers as the perfect film set. There is a whole list of blockbuster movies that have been filmed there. Then we head through Glencoe and the lower part of the highlands before heading back on a stunning ride to our end point

This is a beautiful tour full of scenery and fantastic roads, gorgeous beaches, waterfalls, castles and of course, the beauty, charm and history of the Highlands

1

DAY 1 - Meet at hotel

We all meet up during the afternoon / evening and stay in a hotel just outside Glasgow, to begin the tour the following morning giving us easy access to Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park.
2

DAY 2 - Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park

After breakfast we head for Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park heading north along some of the most beautiful and stunning scenic roads.

We pass through Fort William and alongside the famous Ben Nevis mountain and onward towards Loch Ness to see if we can spot Nessy! We also make a brief stop at Urquhart Castle. From Loch Ness we pass through Inverness and then head south into the beautiful Cairngorms National Park where we rest for the evening in our hotel. We will stay here in the same hotel for two nights. Pillions or riders can opt for a day off the bike and relax in the hotel, or join the rest of the group for a ride through the Cairgnorms with an optional stop at Balmoral Castle and the Royal Distillery

3

DAY 3 - Cairgnorms National Park

Today we travel through Cairgnorms National Park. Britain’s highest and most massive mountain range: its biggest native forests; spectacularly clean rivers and lochs; moorland and farmland and a stronghold for Britain’s wildlife – this special place offers the warmest of welcomes from people who live and work here. Spectacular roads, amazing scenery and plenty to see along the route. Balmoral Castle and some of the worlds best distilleries are here such as the Royal Lochnagar Distillery in Blamoral, https://www.discovering-distilleries.com/royallochnagar/

4

DAY 4 - N500 Start and John O'Groats

We head North to join the NC500 Official, along the Eastern coast, passing gorgeous beaches such as Brora and taking in the stunning fresh sea air from the North sea. On route we make a stop to Whaligoe Steps! and Dunrobin Castle . We arrive at John O’Groats late afternoon for a picture opportunity before heading off for the evening nearby at our hotel on the northern most part of the Scottish mainland where we shall spend an evening relaxing with a sea view before heading west along the north coast of the highlands on the NC500.

5

DAY 5 - Ullapool

We head for Ullapool today through rugged West coast of the Scottish Highlands. Plenty of twisty, winding roads to keep you thrilled and entertained throughout the journey along with some of the most stunning scenery in all of the British Isles. We get to stop off to see Smoo Cave as well. We arrive in Ullapool for an evening stay in our hotel.

6

DAY 6 - Isle of Skye

An earlier start today as we have a long day (longest day) and make our way south now, through the winding roads and magnificent scenery along the last stretch of the official NC500, including the famous Applecross route, as well as a stop at the magnificent Eilean Donan Castle and onto the Isle of Skye where we sample some of the truly awesome scenery, including waterfalls and mountain passes. The Isle of Skye landscape has featured in many blockbuster movies. From the Isle of Skye we catch a small ferry for the short ride to Mallaig where we settle down for the evening in this wonderful and pretty fishing village that marks the end of the NC500 for us but not the end of the tour!
7

DAY 7 - Returning home

From Mallaig we continue south along the Western side of Scotland through Glencoe National Park. A stunning location with tall mountain landscapes and waterfalls nestled in a deep and vibrant green backdrop. A quick hop on and off the car ferry at Hunters Quay we then head alongside Loch Eck on the easten side of Beinn Mhor Mountain and finally through Clyde Muirshiel Park where we arrive at our final hotel just slightly south of Muirshiel Park and approx 20 miles south west of Glasgow, marking the end of the tour. Tomorrow morning we head off back to our homes

Incredible views, stunning scenery and a really great company to go with. It was a little rough at the top of Scotland, very windy but that added to the experience, after all we were meters from the north sea I guess. Some of the roads and scenic routes we took i would have never found myself which is why i opted to go with a Guided Motorbike Tours so I didnt have to faff about trying to plan the route. I was also impressed with the hotels, some were basic but they were all very good standard and I was suprised the company had managed to find any with the right amount of accommodation as i struggle to find hotels that had spaces when i first looked. Overall a fantastic experience. I have already spoken to the tour guide about booking a European tour with them. a thumbs up from you for sure
