BASIC ADVENTURE MOTORCYCLE
TRAINING SESSION
Let us build your confidence on your adventure motorcycle
The sessions will be lighthearted and fun and are purposefully structured to provide anyone with the basic skills to feel competent on their own adventure bike when riding off tarmac
WHAT WILL YOU LEARN?
- Balance
A competent adventure bike rider needs to understand and master balance in order to be confident - Position
Adopting the correct position helps with control - View
Correct focal point helps maintain balance - Breaking
We will teach you basic breaking techniques on loose surface safely - Tyre Pressures & Tyres
Find out why and what pressures you should run your tyres at - Bike recovery (when dropped)
How to pick up your bike safely and easily (Demo carried out on trainers bike)
The instruction that will be provided to you will be basic, it covers the techniques you need to safely and confidently ride off tarmac and is ideal for riders joining our Tunisia, Vietnam or Morocco tours as this will provide confidence when encountering the short roads or trails that have no tarmac.
Building confidence is key. When riding off tarmac on trails one of the important things is to keep your balance, adopt the correct view of sight and keep your speed managed with the use of clutch control. With these skills in mind, you will feel more confident on loose surfaces and less likely to panic potentially resulting in mishap.
The training is carried out on your own adventure style bike, this is intentional in every way, as it allows you to understand your own bike and how it behaves. Riding a loan bike is not only unfamiliar to you, taking time to learn the controls, it is also very unlikely you will be using the same loan bike when you head off into the sunset

DO I NEED TO USE MY OWN BIKE?
Yes, this is so you train on the bike you will be using to continue your adventures and become more familiar with its handling and styling
DO YOU HIRE BIKES?
No
WILL I NEED CRASH BARS?
We recommend you fit crash bars if you don’t have them.
WILL MY BIKE GET DAMAGED?
If you follow our instructions and go steady you shouldn’t cause any damage to your bike at all. You can put some duck tape over the crash bars to minimise scratches if you consider your machine a show piece rather than an adventure bike.
DO I NEED OFF ROAD TYRES FOR THIS?
No, you don’t but we do insist that you have adventure style / dual sport tyres on the bike, an 80/20 or similar will be fine as a minimum
WHAT GEAR DO I NEED?
Your normal riding gear, nothing fancy, you will only be practising basic techniques that will assist you in staying upright in the future and enjoying the ride more
I HAVE NEVER RIDDEN OFF TARMAC IS THIS SUITABLE FOR ME?
Yes, this course is designed specifically for riders who’ve never taken their adventure bike off tarmac
